I love reading and always target to read 4 books a month.  The topics ranges from politics, history, science to comics and cooking.  My work requries me to drive around alot.  I do get stuck in the city jam pretty often.  Instead of wasting time staring at the backside of the car in front of me for hours, I bought a portable ebook reader, the Amazon Kindle 2 from Amazon.  This handheld ebook reader completely changed my life, and the way I use my time.

With this handheld ebook reader, Amazon Kindle 2 in the car, I now enjoy driving, even while stuck in the city jam.  Once I started my car, I will turn on this portable ebook reader and got it to read to me.  Amazon Kindle 2 has this ability to read to you (you just have to select the function “Read to Me”).  It is a new new Text to Speech feature by Amazon Kindle.  The ability by the ebook reader to read to me while I am driving is the best thing next to reading the book myself.  The driving is now more pleasant and enjoyable.  The time is also well spent now with every minute on the road 'reading' the book.

With this portable ebook reader, Amazon Kindle, I am completing about 9 books per month!  Amazon Kindle is my best buy of the year.

As per widely anticipated, Amazon announced the second-generation electronic book reader with Kindle ebook reader II.

Amazon Kindle, the electronic book reader comes with the exclusive Stephen King novel UR today — the page actually went live during the press event. The new version will still cost $359, but it's much thinner than the traditional angular original — in fact, it's thinner than an iPhone at just .36 inches. Perhaps, arguably the biggest new feature of this portable ebook reader is the feature 'Read to Me;, which can read any content on the device back to you in a decent-sounding computerized voice.

This electronic book reader has also seven times more storage, a sharper 16-level e-ink display that turns pages 20 percent faster, 25 percent longer battery life, and a new five-way joystick that improves navigation. Amazon's Whispernet service is also getting a feature bump, adding in Whispersync bookmarking — if you start reading a book on one Kindle, you can always pick up again on any other Kindle automatically. Sadly, it's still only available in white.

Amazon is still working on the international release, but has nothing to announce at this point in time, and wouldn't even confirm a launch this year (2008).  The battery is non-removable.

There will be no Kindle 2-exclusive content, and some of the software improvements will be pushed to the original Kindle — Whispersync is a shoe-in, text-to-speech is a no.

Text-to-speech is a nice touch, but it's still hard to get over that computer voice, at least for me. We can see using this to hear a recipe or short news article, but we're not convinced it'll be enjoyable for a full novel.

Screen refresh is so much more faster than the old model (they say 20 percent). The difference is welcome and noticeable. Moving through documents and back and forth between pages is a snap now. If you've been frustrated with the slowness before, this will be a big relief.

The size difference is pretty remarkable. If you loved the crazy old design, you'll be disappointed, but the tradeoff in thickness is probably worth it. Furthermore, the new button placement is a big improvement, one which will likely make those accidental page turns a thing of the past.

While this niffy electronic book reader does has it litmitation for now, it is still a worthy must have gadget for those who travels alot in the train or car.  The features will make the ride more enjoyable fashionably.
